Our Story

Our story begins in Cape Town, the most southern tip of Africa. A scenic beauty known for its cultural diversity, fauna and our incredible variety of flora found in the Cape Floral Kingdom, which is home to over 9,000 plant species, 70% of which are found nowhere else on the planet.

SK Botanicals is manufactured in the heart of Cape Town; our products are rich in the diversity of African flora and our bespoke multipurpose formulations utilize unique ingredients indigenous to South Africa.

Our love for South Africa’s diversity in both culture and indigenous plants has helped us to create efficacious yet natural skincare formulations for all skin types.

Why Halal?

Cleanliness of the body and spirit are essential parts of the Muslim faith. Halal certified skincare advocates for that which is pure, wholesome and clean for the spiritual and physical well being of consumers within the beauty industry.

A skincare product is halal certified when it has been produced, manufactured and composed of ingredients that is accepted under Islamic law, meaning:

Clean: Free from alcohol and does not contain any ingredients from pigs or any other animals.

Not harming the body - Pure and wholesome: natural formulations, organically grown and products which are free from harmful ingredients. References in the Quran to foodstuff harmful for human consumption, which science can now prove to be true.

Cruelty Free: no testing of raw materials or finished products on animals, no exploitation of animals to obtain raw materials. Numerous verses in the Quran refer to the sanctity of animal life and the equal rights of an animal to have a peaceful life.

Caring for the Environment (recycling, reducing carbon footprint). Islam advocates respect for not only one’s neighbour but also nature and the environment. Including not upsetting the ecological balance, not compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs, limiting consumption, re-using and recycling.
